The Object was to provide higher
ed-ucation to the daughters of the Mill workers or labourers, who
in the absence of a Girl's College in the vicinity of the homes
as also due to social inhibitions got deprived of Higher
education on the whole. The College was started with 47 Girl's
students on roll in the BA Course.

From 1990 onwards the Cotton Textile Mill of the city gradually
began to face closure. The labour class became jobless. It was a
social crisis of immense human magnitude. Even at that time, the
college continued providing low-Cost education to these daughter
of the jobless mill workers.

The College is located in the
erstwhile textile mill area of Indore city. The College was
started on 2 Aug. 1982 by the Onkar Charity Trust belonging to
the family of Shri Mannalal Onkarlal Agrawal, the proprietors of
the Hukumchand Textile Mill of Indore. |

By an agreement M.P. State Govt.
transferred the College from the Onkar Charity Trust to the Devi
Ahilya University Indore. Thus on 11-08-2003 the College become
a Constituent College of Devi Ahilya University, Indore. Now
Devi Ahilya University is the managing body of the College
